Target x Grammys:
”It Takes Two”

Pop queen Carly Rae Jepsen, upstart rapper Lil Yachty, and legendary Atlanta hitmaker Mike Will Made-it may seem like an unlikely trio, but when Target came to us to create a massive cultural moment at the GRAMMYs, no combination was too unexpected, no collaboration too surprising.

After selecting the legendary Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock track “It Takes Two” as the starting point for this GRAMMY halftime spectacular, it was essential to put together a group of artists and collaborators who would be able to live up to the original while also putting a modern spin on the track.

Every great single needs a music video, and we knew that this video couldn’t have any old director. Roman Coppola signed on, with La La Land choreographer Mandy Moore, and completed the crew of creative powerhouses who proved that to create a moment as spectacular as this one, it takes way more than two.

While the track bridged the old and the new school of both rap and pop music, the accompanying video takes one of America’s most iconic stores, Target, and brings it to life through dance, set design, and cinematography. America’s happy place gets even happier for the GRAMMYs, and viewers will never think of their everyday Target run the same way again.

“…a more current statement about pop music’s evolution than anything on the GRAMMYS.” -The New York Times
